Alec Duckart, better known as Searows, shares his newest single, “Funny,” from his upcoming EP, End of the World out November 10 via Last Recordings On Earth, a new label launched by Matt Maltese in association with Communion Records. Lead single, “I have more than enough,” was released last month. The indie-folk singer-songwriter and guitarist shares this track while finishing touring with Gracie Abrams across Europe. The news follows recent releases including “Older,” “House Song,” and his 2022 debut album, Guard Dog.

In “Funny,” Alec eloquently depicts the sensation of surrender. Hauntingly beautiful lyrics describe releasing and giving into an emotional battle with oneself, finally accepting the beginning stages of healing and surpassing a moment of inevitable self confrontation. Alec sings, “I can feel it, I know it’s true. I can’t heal what I hold on to.” Reverberant strings and guitar envelope Alec’s vocals creating a deeply intimate listening experience.

Alec shared some insight about the song: “It took me over two years and a lot of convincing to even consider releasing this song. Part of my resistance to finishing it came from feeling like I’ve been writing about the same things over and over again for years now. The song is essentially about anxiety and the things you repeat to yourself to try and get out of that anxiety, which is a theme of a lot of the songs on the EP. I think the reason I keep writing about the same feelings over years of my life is the same reason they keep resonating for people. I have not figured everything out and neither has anyone else. I guess it’s comforting as both the writer and the listener to be reminded of that.”
