Brooklyn-based English songwriter Fenne Lily returns with Win Win, her fourth album and first release with Nettwerk Music Group, due October 23. Alongside the announcement, Fenne shares lead single “Uh Huh,” a warm, clear-eyed song about moving through heartbreak and arriving, enervated but triumphant, on the other side.

Written during a period of upheaval after moving from England to New York, Win Win began in the aftermath of an unexpected breakup and a profound crisis of confidence. Feeling untethered in a city that at first felt too large and unforgiving, Fenne turned inward, writing obsessively as a way to process loss, loneliness, and the fear of losing herself. What emerged was a record rooted in self-preservation and rediscovery.

Lead single “Uh Huh” introduces the album as a structured conversation between Fenne and a loved one following the dissolution of a relationship, the roving perspective — sometimes first person, sometimes third — is a vantage point that allowed her to create some meaningful distance from the song’s tender subject. Musically, “Uh Huh” signals both the strengthening of her established musical identity and the advancement of new ground. “It needed to be solid, sound strong and sure of itself,” Fenne says. “From the start this one leaned more country than the songs I’d been writing, though. Like I’d absorbed some of the America I live in now. British country music…”

Written and recorded over the course of 18 months, Win Win came together through heatwaves, snowstorms, apartment moves and late-night sessions with both longtime bandmates from England and New York collaborators. The core of the album was recorded live and partially to tape, imbuing the songs with a warmth and immediacy that mirrors their emotional openness.
