Alice Phoebe Lou finds a home for her previously unreleased music in Oblivion, her upcoming sixth studio album due for release October 24 via Nettwerk Music Group. “After five band records, I’ve opened my treasure chest of personal storytelling songs that I’ve built up over a decade,” she says. “Songs that didn’t make it into other albums, some songs I never thought would see the light of day. I embarked on the brave and thrilling journey of recording these songs as they are, with love and playfulness, simple and all my own. Leaning into imperfection and taking inspiration from some of my biggest influences who have made timeless folk acoustic albums.”

Following the album’s announcement, the artist also shared the new single “Pretender,” a quiet, acoustic guitar-led track that’s minimal on production yet anchored by Lou’s vocal performance of her lyrics.

This album aims to focus on a stripped-back sound more focused on storytelling, so it’s also the first time Lou experiments with self-production. Her previous singles “You and I,” “The Surface,” and “Shadows”—also featured on Oblivion—inaugurated this new era for her. “It was important to share my heart in this playful, gentle, vulnerable way that isn’t striving for perfection. That helped me focus on the song and what it needed,” she says. “Being so open is painful and it’s beautiful, and helps you be grateful for where you are and where you’re going.”

Alice Phoebe Lou has yet to reveal the tracklist.
