Culture Wars debuts “Money (Gimme, Gimme)”

Culture Wars debuts new single "Money (Gimme, Gimme)"

Culture Wars’ five-song debut upcoming EP, on which include the tracks as “Bones,” “Lies” and “Money (Gimme, Gimme)” showcase the band’s audacious attitude and forward-thinking sonic sensibility. Culture Wars from Austin TX features Alex Dugan on vocals and electronics, Mic Vrendenburgh on guitar and electronics along with David Grayson on drums. With production by Robert Sewell and mixing by Alan Moulder (The Killers, Nine Inch Nails) and Manny Marroquin (Kanye West, Imagine Dragons) soundly merges edgy, with electronic textures, punchy guitar work, insistent melodic hooks and the vocals of charismatic frontman Alex Dugan.

“Mic and I were into similar stuff, so we started writing together,” Dugan recalls. We initially went in just to dick around and make weird noises, but we ended up writing a bunch of actual songs together. We liked what we were writing, and loved the way David played drums, so we decided to form a new thing around this music that resonated with us.

The band worked closely with producer Sewell and his Hustle House team creating the songs and sounds at their Austin home on laptops. The band and Sewell then completed the recordings in the unique atmosphere of Sonic Ranch Studios secluded in the desert of far west Texas, where Mic is from.
