LOUIZA premieres news single “Brilhante”
San Francisco multi/artist Rebecca Mimiaga AKA: LOUIZA, will release her new album Swim At Night on April 5th. The full-length was produced by James Riotto, known for his work with The Mountain Goats, tUnE-yArDs, and Ezra Furman at John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studios in Oakland, (St. Vincent, Spoon, The Mountain Goats). Ahead of the album’s release, LOUIZA, has shared the new single “Brilhante.” A song which we are throughly enjoying, and reminds us of tUnE-yArDs, with a bit of M.I.A. and Joni Mitchell thrown in, for a fine combination.
Rebecca Mimiaga on “Brilhante”:
“‘Brilhante’ is the satirical perspective of an instagram influencer. I’ve been thinking about the role of social media in our lives, how it offers us a chance to tailor and present ourselves like celebrities. With that comes celebrity pressures: to increase positive ratings, content and viewership on a platform that updates instantaneously all the time. If you’re a creative, part of your career is dependent on a ‘good following.’ If you’re a teen, there’s an added pressure to be well-liked, not only at school but online. Overall, I wonder how it affects our relationships, life goals and most of all, how we view of ourselves.”
LOUIZA is the indie-pop / art-rock experiment of San Francisco-born artist Rebecca Mimiaga studied at both Skidmore College and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
