London four piece Goat Girl today share new stand-alone single “gossip.” The track was produced by the band and mixed by John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum / Anna B Savage, black midi, caroline) in Ireland during the recording of their ‘Below The Waste’ album. Embracing the electronic side of their music, the band took inspiration from Aphex Twin, Koreless, Tirzah and Gilla Band. The track is accompanied by a video, directed and edited by singer/guitarist Lottie Pendlebury.

Recently expanded to a four piece with the addition of Ruby Kyriakides (they/him) as a permanent member, Goat Girl explain how the track came about and developed its own identity compared to the other tracks recorded at the time. “We started recording gossip in Ireland with John ‘Spud’ Murphy making Below The Waste but it felt more like it’s own thing than a part of the album. We took the stems from Dublin and reworked them in London with Ruby. We wanted to lean into its electronic potential and do something quite different sonically. Lyrically, it uses natural imagery as a metaphor for contemplating hearsay and destructive behaviours.”

A film about the making of Goat Girl’s ‘Below The Waste’ album was recently premiered at the Doc N Roll Film Festival at the Century Club in Soho. The film was created by Reality Breakdown and is a collaborative documentary.
