Water From Your Eyes announce MP3 Player 1

Water From Your Eyes have announces MP3 Player 1, a new EP featuring covers of tracks by Chumbawamba, Adele, Al Green, and Third Eye Blind. These songs, which were recorded around the same time as the band’s 2023 Matador debut, Everyone’s Crushed, carry on a WFYE tradition established on 2021’s covers LP Somebody Else’s Songs – with Nate Amos and Rachel Brown casually knocking out skewed (and sometimes very earnest) takes on music they love.

From Water From Your Eyes: “These are covers that we made at the same time as we were finishing ‘Everyone’s Crushed.’ Nate chose “Good Ship Lifestyle” and Rachel chose the other three. Chumbawamba is an obvious favorite of ours, but it is between Adele in the style of The Cure and Al Green as the most left field covers we could have chosen. We think it’s funny and good, but ultimately that will be left to the listeners to decide for themselves.”

On July 25, Water From Your Eyes will mount its second annual Boat Show. This year’s floating concert – which will depart from NYC’s Pier 36 – will
feature WFYE alongside headliners Model/Actiz, as well as Kassie Krut and DJ Practice.

The band is now joined on the road by Al Nardo and drummer Bailey Wollowitz. This summer Water From Your Eyes will play Pitchfork Music Festival, Pickathon Experimental Music Festival, End of the Road, Corona Capital, and more.
