The Acid return with “Breed”
The Acid return today with soul-stirring song, “Breed” featuring vocals from the group’s own, RY X. The new release from the often mysterious and sought-after group signals there may be an album soon to come… The group shared, “since ‘Liminal,’ we’ve met every couple of years under the Mojave sky, in Adam’s studio among ancient boulders. It feels like the right time to let these tracks breathe beyond the desert.”
The Acid consists of British DJ and record producer Adam Freeland; Californian producer, composer, and professor of music technology Steve Nalepa and lauded Los Angeles–based Australian artist RY X. The sound they’ve created together is truly genre-less, a term used with increasing frequency but never quite so well suited as to them. In 2014, the group released their first full-length album, Liminal, on Infectious Music (UK) and Mute Records (US). They toured across Europe and later took a break from touring to soundtrack the movie The Bomb, an immersive documentary directed by Kevin Ford, Smitri Keshari and Eric Schlosser. The band then performed the score live in a 360-degree setting while the film was being shown at Tribeca Film Festival, Berlinale, Glastonbury Festival, Nobel Peace Prize award ceremonies (Oslo) & Sydney Festival with the soundtrack being released in 2017.
Principal songwriter RY X then focused on his solo work and this release is the first of many to come in 2025 on RY’s own imprint Eden Recordings. Stay tuned for more soon…
