Today, Toronto based band Swanes are streaming their brand new EP Biota. The EP is available today, and available on most streaming services. Swanes recently released their Jason Harvey (Mac DeMarco), directed video for the single “Average Bear.” Other highlights from the band, include shows with Chad Valley and You’ll Never Get to Heaven.

“Biota at first was just a cool word Mike stumbled upon while listening to a lecture on the occult. Once we learned what it meant, “a collection of individual organisms in any given geographical location/time period”, the essence of that meaning ended up distilling into how this EP came together, in our case a collection of songs we wrote within the span of a year. We’re also very influenced by science, sci-fi novels and futurism, shout out to Elon, which also happens to tie into the idea of a Biota.

During that time we were still finding our musical voice and making this EP ultimately led us closer than ever before to ourselves. We’ve already begun work on our first full-length and we’re really excited about the evolution so far.” -Stefan Gallaugher
