Rich Aucoin Premieres “Want To Believe” Video
Subterranean highway alien hives, basement cult hideouts, and BMX bikes everywhere – just a few things every good kid’s adventure movie needs…and also the heart of Rich Aucoin’s new video for“Want To Believe”, premiered today. Produced by Jason Levangie, directed by Jason Eisner, and starring Aucoin as Detective Wolfe, the video packs an epic storyline into three short minutes of reckless imagination. “Rich’s track brought back memories of my youth,” says Eisener. “Going on adventures with friends and believing that we could find ghosts, monsters and aliens. Being an adult sucks, and you can get so caught up in grown up stuff you forget that it can be fun to just believe in the paranormal. Rich and I both grew up on movies like The Monster Squad, The Goonies, The Sandlot, and The Explorers, and we always knew if we were ever to going to make a music video together we had to create our own kids adventure.”
“It was incredibly fun to make,” says Aucoin. “Shooting all night till dawn with a youthful excitement of creating something in the vein of so many of our favourite films. I hope people enjoy the hard work of so many people who put this labour of love together. Oh, I also hope that putting my real phone number in the video turns out to be a good idea!”
“In my mind, Jason and Rich created a universal story that reflects the importance of play and imagination in the development of adolescents,” says Levangie. “Something that is overlooked in the age of information. I think this video makes everybody, young and old, ‘Want To Believe’.”
Produced by Rich and his drummer, Joel Waddell, and mixed by some heavy-weights including Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk / Random Access Memories), Ephemeral offers 10 energetic pop songs with gang vocal shouted choruses of size up to 20,000 people. Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince, the lyrics explore universal themes such as the ephemerality of human existence, solitude and the importance of relationships. Ephemeral is out in the USA via Young Enthusiastic Americans. Aucoin has a number of upcoming November dates in support, including November 9 in Austin, closing out this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest.
