James Blake Announces New Covers Album
James Blake has announced his brand new album, Covers EP, will be released on December 11th. A collection of his favourite covers. The EP will include Blake’s version of Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed” as well as his newly-released take on Ewan MacColls’ – made famous by Roberta Flack – “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.”
While spending time at home during lockdown, James Blake spent much of his days performing fan-requested covers on social media. With such a positive response, Blake went on to officially release his cover of ‘Godspeed’ (which generated over 5 million views on TikTok alone). With continued requests and fan demand for more, James Blake has now compiled his new ‘Covers EP’ (as he explains)…
“One of the things keeping me going mentally throughout lockdown has been the requests from fans for different covers and performing them on Instagram. It’s been a joy to discover new music and new ways of playing songs I’ve already heard.” Of the EP, James adds: “I might even throw in a surprise that no one has heard me play on socials before. I’m excited to share it with people.”
