Over the past couple months, Axis: Sova have given us a trio of high impact singles from their forthcoming LP, Blinded By Oblivion. Now, a few weeks away from the album’s release on Oct. 6th, they show up with “I’m A Ghost”, an electrified romp through a glammed-out and frightening psychedelic prism.

“I’m A Ghost” is the only song on the album written entirely in session at Harmonizer Studios: with guitars plugged directly into the board, auxiliary drums programmed on the spot, and predominantly improvised lyrics, spontaneity oozes from its grimy depths.

According to Brett Sova, “the ghost in the song has dual meaning – one is traditional, as in being haunted by (a person, or past experiences, etc), while the other refers to feeling absent in the moment and being so acutely affected or overwhelmed by anxiety as to dissociate, even if the physical body remains “present”.

The video for “I’m A Ghost”, made by frequent A:S collaborator, Krzys Poitrowski, stars dancer Kristina Isabelle, who manifests these two ghostly themes through physical movement, often simultaneously. Sometimes, the only way to exorcise the possession and regain personal agency is through dance, and for that, Axis: Sova have got you covered!
