Drain Debut “Living Proof” Video
Drain have shared a new video for the title track of their record Coined. The video was shot on Super 8 film by Ryan and Alice Baxley during one of their rowdy tour dates. It captures the pure energy, chaos and unity infused into a typical Drain show; a mic-grabbing, stage-diver’s delight.
Magnetic frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro shares, “Living Proof” serves as a culmination of everything that the record stands for. As our closing statement to the album, I wanted something that would feel larger than life when it’s sung by a whole crowd. I wanted to write something uplifting but honest and real, and I think that this was the vibe for the whole record, but especially for this track. I was envisioning the live show setting and the whole crowd screaming “HERE AND NOW…THIS IS LIVING PROOF” and getting chills thinking about how cool that would be. A room full of people yelling that this specific moment in time is proof that we are right where we are supposed to be in this world and in this life. So sick.
My favorite part of the video is actually the very ending. We thought it would be cool to fade the record out by slowing down the tape while we just ring some notes out, KISS style haha. All the love and respect from us, I hope ya’ll enjoy the video. YOU are living proof!”
Produced by longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Young (God’s Hate, Suicide Silence) and mixed by Jon Markson (Drug Church, Koyo), LIVING PROOF injects a serious dose of relatability—not to mention catchiness—into hardcore’s penchant for toughness and brutality. With his face perpetually glued in a grin, vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro’s snotty howl rides roughshod over thrash-leaning riffage as rhythms bounce in a big way. It isn’t just a good time as Sammy presides over the chaos of stagediving bodies and mic-grabbing frontline; it’s a party—and everyone is invited.
