“Disconnected” By Last Quokka
Australian garage punks Last Quokka have shared their new single “Disconnected.” the track arrives ahead of their full length album Red Dirt, which will be released in May. “Disconnected” is a cutting critique of the divisions in our community created by social media echo chambers.
Rojahn’s lyrics highlight the comfortable isolation created by these online networks, in which people avoid any opinion averse to their own, snuffing out their ability to think critically and mobilise effectively to catalyse change. Censorship has never paved a path to revolution. It was written, along with most of the album, during a writing weekend in a bizarre Cervantes mansion with carpeted toilets.
Red Dirt features ten tracks of politico punk rock from the most isolated city on the planet. The band have played alongside such luminaries of the global punk scene including Amyl And The Sniffers, Gang Of Four, Mclusky, C.O.F.F.I.N, These New South Whales and Private Function, as well as touring extensively throughout Australia and South-East Asia.
Full album Red Dirt will be available on May 5th via Stock Records and Tuff Cuff Records and Mass Prod, as well as online via all the usual streaming services.
