Zola Jesus and Jesse Draxler have released “A Precambrian Will”, the new collaboration between the two artists is a preview of Draxler’s forthcoming album Tongue of Angels, available August 14 via Federal Prisoner and Draxler’s artist-led platform RIP ID. The LP is More than an 18-track LP, but is a new model of distributed authorship.

Known for a monochrome practice spanning contemporary art, publishing, photography and music, Draxler has collaborated with Alexander McQueen and Prince, and most recently saw his work included in Christie’s First Open contemporary art auction.

Expanding the ideas introduced on Reigning Cement, his collaborative album and 100-page art book, Draxler conceived Tongue of Angels as a systems designer rather than a conventional songwriter. Built from a shared dataset of edited field recordings, industrial debris and sonic fragments, every contributor—including Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura), Venera featuring Korn guitarist James Shaffer, Lord Spikeheart, and others—receives the same source material from which entirely original works emerge. Selected pieces are then rerouted through additional collaborators, creating deliberate chains of intervention, reinterpretation and transformation. Draxler composes both the music and the system governing its movement, so the work exists not only in the finished tracks but in the pathways connecting them.

Extending beyond its 2xLP and digital release, the project continues through RIP ID, Draxler’s evolving platform uniting music, publishing, visual practice, archives, audience access and future iterations within a single artistic structure.
