vegas water taxi will drop their new album first time listener on February 6th via PNKSLM. The counterpart to October’s long time caller EP, completes the two-part project where both EPs will combine as a full length LP, and be released the same day on 12 inch vinyl.

The band have also announced a headline show at East London’s Sebright Arms for Jan 29th as part of Independent Venue Week and today unveil two release weekend in-stores at London’s Rough Trade Denmark Street on Feb 6th and Oxford’s Truck on Feb 7th.

“brat summer” was the final song written for the project and closes off the first time listener EP in absurdist fashion, its stomping country-indie belying an Orwellian vision of a police state future updated for the social media age. “I’d recently re-read 1984, and set myself the challenge of trying to write a near future dystopia in a song, particularly in relation to the state of the USA,” explains frontman Ben Hambro. “It imagines a world where people who had no participated in the/a brat summer where being rounded up by the police, whilst the only things on the radio are Call Her Daddy and The Joe Rogan Podcast. It ends with the protagonist and Matty Healy setting fire to LA. Easy listening stuff.”

Recorded with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn, long time caller, first time listener features band leader Ben Hambro alongside bandmates bassist/guitarist Fred Lawton, drummer/guitarist Charlie Meyrick and backing vocalist Molly Shields, plus collaborators Rhodri Brooks on pedal steel and Holly Carpenter on violin.
