“Why Deny It?” By Blacklisters
Blacklisters, the UK band comprised of is comprised of Billy Mason-Wood, Alistair Stobbart, Steven Hodson, and Dan Beesley, return with the release of a brand new single entitled “Why Deny It?,” a track Billy Mason-Wood describes as being “loosely about surrendering myself to capitalism even though I know we made it up and could just as easily have done something else with our time, like prioritized building massive pyramids in the desert to appease the sun gods or decided that one person was the descendant of the creator and done everything he said. Also we have a saxophone!” The band’s new EP, Leisure Centre, is due out November 18th via Exploding In Sound Records (US) and Sad Tapes (UK).
Praised by a wide array of legendary maniacs including David Yow (The Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid), Andrew Falkous (mclusky, future of the left), and Blake Harrison (Pig Destroyer), Blacklisters continue to carve out a unique niche of intricate discordance, monolithic low-end, and tongue-in-cheek humor throughout the Leisure Centre EP. We can all shout along as we laugh at preposterous business meetings, scheduled relaxation centers, and the sours of general self-seriousness. Utterly heavy and ingeniously weird, Blacklisters remind us all to have a little fun.
