New York City pop punk group The Zings are delighted to premiere “You’re Dead To Me”, the second single from their forthcoming 3 track digi EP (set for release in early December through the Orchard). The Zings recently supported Subhumans in New York.

You may wonder why New York City’s The Zings are named after a sharp whizzing sound; and that is because no normal nomenclature could truly capture the zap and wallop that Zings bring to the party. Music as electric cattle prod — The Zings have arrived and are wasting no time in showing the herd what they can do.

“You’re Dead To Me” is a bittersweet recounting of a ruined relationship. All of singer Dave Goldberg’s pain is wrapped up in such perfect power-pop dressing that the bitter lyrics hit that much harder. References to Instagram and Tinder give this ancient heartache a modern twist — looks like you can teach a dog a few new tricks after all.

Despite the sweet outer layer of lollipop-punk, The Zings have a hard core — they are New Yorkers after all. Much like a little-band-that-could called The Ramones, The Zings are telling you about their world, on their streets. Perhaps you can relate.
