The Antlers Release New Single “I Was Not There”
The Antlers have returned with new single “I Was Not There”, the track is out today via Transgressive and streaming services. The song was produced and engineered by Peter Silberman and mixed by frequent Antlers collaborator Nicholas Principe. In addition to Michael Lerner’s drums, and Silberman’s vocals, piano and other instrumentation, the track also features Logan Coale (The National, NOW Ensemble) on upright bass.
Peter Silberman says of the song:
“Perhaps counterintuitively, “I Was Not There” is about the elusive experience of complete presence. Across three scenes, the song describes fleeting moments of clarity and wholeness, and the accompanying feeling of leaving yourself.”
The Antlers have also announced a one-off, special show at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge on 7th June. The band will perform in the round as part of LPR’s 15th Anniversary Celebration. The track follows The Antlers have been releasing stand-alone singles “Ahimsa” and a Brett Arnold reworking of “Green to Gold”.
