Sorry, have returned with new song “Waxwing.” The is built around an interpolation of a set of lyrics from Toni Basil’s “Hey Mickey.” Sorry vocalist and lead-songwriter Asha Lorenz inverts the bubble gum hook of the original into something more spectral and cutting with the jet-black humor Sorry have become synonymous with. Themes of desire are alluded to, with a bed of sci-fi soundtrack synthesizers circling menacingly around the group, punctuated by bursts of static. Sorry collect these moments and build them up to a pure moment of catharsis, with chopped-up vocals providing a human touch amongst the future-leaning production.

The group’s Asha Lorenz says: “Mickey is desire ? Mickey is the bomb? Mickey makes me money? Mickey makes my songs? Mickey makes a poem? Mickey in the drugs ? Mickey is liar ? Mickey making love? Mickey is desire ?” 

The track is accompanied by a video directed and produced by FLASHA, which intersperses lo-fi DIY with hi-gloss footage of the band, mirroring the group’s ability to pair crystalline digital moments with human imperfections and brimming with imagery that implies how desire can reshape human perception.
