“Soak” by GEMS
To celebrate the release of their debut album Kill the One You Love, GEMS are excited to now share their first official video for “Soak.” Interview Magazine, who premiered the video, said of the new album, “Rife with frank, heart-on-your-sleeve poetics and atmospheric instrumentals, the release lives up to Lindsay Pitts and Clifford John Usher’s 2013 EP Medusa.”
Directors WACHO write:
“The film portrays a young couple’s relationship mutating/deteriorating through different scenarios. What holds them together is what is making them fall apart. This destructive impulse will be personified as a menacing force, external to the couple, materialized in nature, faceless characters, darkness and confined spaces. The external force is the fear of: loneliness – the unknown – loosing identity – the void. The contradiction: pure/destructive – together/apart – light/darkness – dream/nightmare – real/surreal. Asphyxia. Sensuality.”
GEMS is the duo of Lindsay Pitts and Clifford John Usher. Their debut album, Kill the One You Love, is out now via Carpark Records and indulges in evocative shadow pop, balancing gauzy atmospherics with an emotional heft that explores existential longing and raw human truths.
