Sarah Neufeld Announces North American Tour
Montreal based violinist and composer Sarah Neufeld best known as a member of Arcade Fire, will be touring extensively in support of her upcoming sophomore release in 2016. The new record is out on Paper Bag Records and is titled “The Ridge.” She is also a founding member of the acclaimed contemporary instrumental ensemble Bell Orchestre, and most recently as half of an exciting new duo with renowned saxophonist Colin Stetson. She will be playing across the country, starting in Los Angeles and ending with a date in New York City. Stefan Schneider (the Luyas, Belle Orchestre) will be accompanying her for the live shows. Opening on tour will be Eartheater. Full dates belolw.
Speaking of the upcoming tour, Sarah says:
“I’m thrilled to announce the first official release tour for my new album, The Ridge. The always surprising and incredible Stefan Schneider (the Luyas) will be carrying the loud and heavy torch of drums and electronics for these shows. This man and I have been rocking strange and wonderful music together since the earliest days of Bell Orchestre, in the caves of our art school practice rooms. We will drive over frozen and not so frozen land to reach your cities and towns- a feat I haven’t had the pleasure of performing for an SN solo release this far. I’m beyond excited that the amazing Eartheater will be joining this entire tour. Her new album RIP Chrysalis is an enchanting work of art. So come to these cities and towns on these evenings. Rock out with us. Give us high fives. See you come winters end!”
The new album is a body of work that sees Neufeld moving away from Hero Brother’s minimalism and sepulchral ambience, and into the world of rhythmic pop minimalism. The new album employs more emphasis on vocalizations than her previous work, and focuses more on the interplay between Neufeld’s voice and violin attains greater emphasis.
Her newest musical venture, The Ridge, is due out on Paper Bag Records February 26th. She recently released the title track “The Ridge”
