Photos: Time Festival 2016 in Toronto
Time Festival returned to Toronto for its eighth successful year on Saturday August 6. Hosted on a portion of the sprawling Fort York National Historic Site, this year offered an impressive new addition in the form of the Over Time stage, featuring an assortment of global electronic artists from Canadian duo Bob Moses, to Bulgarian producer KiNK.
With the main Time stage remaining in its central place, despite seeming relatively smaller, attendees divided themselves amongst the two and made for decent crowds. Main stage goers witnessed some standout performances from TOPS, Joey Bada$$, Everything Everything and, one half of the festivals powerhouse headliners, Run The Jewels. Those who opted to stay at the Over Time stage, located conveniently close to the gates, were also provided with their own array of memorable sets from the likes of Harrison, KiNK, Nyck Caution and Kirk Knight (who took to the stage together), and fellow headliners Bob Moses.
While the integration of a second stage may have posed risks, it is safe to say that it was a chance worth taking. Attendees seemed to enjoy having the choice of two stages, and those who came strictly for the electronic artists would have appreciated their own space. The festival maintained the laid back, welcoming atmosphere that it has come to be known and loved for, all while featuring talented artists from a variety of genres. Time Fest continually proves itself to be one of Toronto’s most eclectic and intimate summer festivals.
