Eric Slick’s music video for the title track of his upcoming album, New Age Rage. Created with comedian Demi Adejuyigbe (The Good Place, James Corden, Amber Ruffin), “New Age Rage” harnesses a Videodrome meets Weird Science aesthetic to capture the all-too-real fear of being replaced by AI. “Overloading your senses with the Taco Bell gong, the AOL Instant Messenger door slam, Daft Punky vocoders, and synth squiggles that wouldn’t sound out of place in Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart DS. Slick gets his point across perfectly: This is the new age, and it’s time to rage.”

Slick has appeared on Taylor Swift recordings, on the road as part of Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby‘s live bands, at the helm of the original score for Hilary Swank’s 2023 film The Good Mother, and behind the drum set for nearly 15 years as a full-time member of Dr. Dog. New Age Rage also has contributions from close collaborators such as his wife Natalie Prass and friends like Diane Coffee, Finom (fka OHMME), Liam Kazar, mmeadows, VV Lightbody, Kimaya Diggs and many more, as he delivers not only a statement about humankind’s harrowing future, but a way to still sing, seethe and dance through the discomfort.

Across the album, Eric confronts the dangers of artificial intelligence, self-driving cars and mass media manipulation, while exploring the impossibility of living in the moment, the struggles of being accepted as one’s truest self, and the sin of perfectionism, but I’d love to send over a full preview and talk about opportunities for coverage.
