Mutual Benefit Share New Video, Tour Dates
Today, Mutual Benefit are sharing their video for “Auburn Epitaphs” from the recently re-issued EP, “The Cowboy’s Prayer,” out now on Other Music Recording Co. Directed by David Dean Bukhart, the video was enthusiastically sought out by the label and band after seeing Bukhart’s fan video for “Golden Wake.”
“Making a video that really complements a song rather than forces its own construct on the music is hard, and unless the artist comes to the table with a strong visual idea, or at least a director friend who they have a close personal connection to, to some degree it’s always a roll of the dice. The truth is that none of us at the label or band really know director David Dean Bukhart at all — we first saw his work when he posted a fan video for “Golden Wake,” from the Love’s Crushing Diamond LP, which we were all really taken with, and when we reached out about making a new clip for “Auburn Epitaphs” David immediately got to work. He is somewhat secretive about his process, but what I love about this new video is how his use of found footage and corroded film images somehow effortlessly evokes the nostalgia of the song, and while the footage only tangentially relates directly to the lyrics, while watching the video I keep finding new meaning in Jordan’s words. For me it is that rare case where images give the sounds added depth.” – Josh Madell, Other Music Recording Co.
Mutual Benefit are currently in the midst of a fall tour of the US and Canada.
