The culmination of summer means annual fall highlight, Moogfest 2012, the festival of electronic and visionary music that celebrates the innovative spirit of Bob Moog, is just around the corner! With one month to go, we are excited to share the schedule for this year’s festival, taking place Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27 in beautiful Asheville, NC. In addition to the schedule, we have much more Moogfest-related news to share.
As previously announced, this year’s many acts will perform at venues throughout charming downtown Asheville, including the U.S. Cellular Center, which includes the ExploreAsheville.com arena (formerly the Asheville Civic Center Arena) and the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, the Orange Peel, Diana Wortham Theater, and Asheville Music Hall. You can see the entire schedule for both days here: www.moogfest.com.
MOOG INNOVATION AWARD
Moog Music is proud to announce Thomas Dolby as the third recipient of the Moog Innovation Award, joining 2010 winner Devo and 2011 winner Brian Eno. The Moog Innovation Award celebrates pioneering artists whose genre-defying work exemplifies the bold, innovative spirit of Bob Moog. Like Bob Moog, Thomas Dolby’s quest for knowledge and desire to sculpt the world around him led him to the world of electronics, where he designed his own synths, founded his own software company, and charged head long through the world of pop music and into America’s consciousness. For expanding the sonic boundaries of the new wave movement and for fearlessly embracing the future, Moog is proud to present Thomas Dolby with this honor.
REMIX ORBITAL
Moogfest is partnering with Orbital to offer aspiring producers the opportunity to submit their best remixes of the duo’s “Where Is It Going?” for the chance to attend Moogfest as a VIP, including accommodation for two, a meet and greet with Orbital, premiere of their remix via Orbital’s Soundcloud and/or Facebook, amongst other prizes.
