Mitski unveils is sharing a solo cover of “Coyote, My Little Brother,” written by Peter Lafarge but popularized by Pete Seeger, and a new studio rendition of The Land’s “Buffalo Replaced.” In “Buffalo Replaced,” the wail of a freight train replaces the vibrations of the long-gone stampeding buffalo. Here, hope itself is personified, anthropomorphized into a sleeping creature, and the song’s narrator wonders if life would be easier without her. Both track were recorded for the Spotify series and recorded in New York City by the trio that performed during the intimate 2023 Amateur Mistake Tour, the songs features Mitski on vocals, The Land is Inhospitable and So Are We producer Patrick Hyland on acoustic guitars, and Jeni Magaña on double bass.

Mitski’s next run of North American shows, kicking off later this month, includes multiple nights in Chicago, Los Angeles, Mexico City and Nashville. In addition to all of the previously announced performances happening later this year, Mitski will headline the Hollywood Bowl in September, and play a third concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion, making Mitski one of four artists (and the first female artist) in the history of the venue to ever perform three consecutive nights there.

Ahead of the Chicago shows, Mitski is also announcing the Here on Earth: Chicago gallery and pop-up shop in collaboration with the bookstore, Exile in Bookville. Featuring photographs from The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We curated by Ebru Yildiz, the pop-up will be open Thursday March 21st through Sunday March 24th from 4-7PM on the 2nd floor of the Fine Arts Building in downtown Chicago (410 S. Michigan Avenue).
