Metronomy announces new album

Metronomy announce 'Metronomy Forever'
Metronomy

Metronomy have announced their new album Metronomy Forever, will drop on September 13th. “The album is an album about time and its simultaneously finite and eternal nature. Made after frontman Joseph Mount moved from the bustling cityscapes of Paris to a calm residence in the English countryside.”

With the album announcement, Metronomy is also sharing a new single and accompanying video. “Salted Caramel Ice Cream” follows previous single “Lately” and similarly receives a Mount-directed video. The visual playfully narrates the rivalry of two competing ice cream shops, Oscar & Rodney’s and Mike & Anna’s. After numerous experimentations, Oscar & Rodney eventually come out on top, successfully discovering salted caramel ice cream.

Joseph Mount on the album:

“What happens is when you’re making music and you enter a world where you have achieved some sort of celebrity no matter how large or small you start to think about yourself in terms of legacy and what you’re going to leave behind and then you realise that’s limited to the interest people have in you. In the end I feel completely comfortable with it. The less importance you place in any art the more interesting it can become in a way…I’m making music, I’m going to do some concerts, I need to feed my children.”

Metronomy play their first full UK/EU headlining tour this fall. Beginning October 9th in France, they’ll play 21 shows across the UK and Europe before ending November 16th in the UK. The run follows their current summer festival tour which kicked off June 1st at Paris’ We Love Green Festival. Stops in Madrid, Portugal, France, and a headlining stop at Glasgow’s Electric Field Festival are still to come.
