Lea Porcelain announce ‘Out Is In’ EP out May 27
Berlin/London duo Lea Porcelain (consisting of producer Julien Bracht and singer Markus Nikolaus) have been gaining international recognition and a legion of spellbound fans from live shows across Europe (including Berlin’s Berghain Kantine, Reperbahn Festival and Eurosonic). Today they have announced their new EP Out Is In will be released via Kobalt on May 27th.
“Out Is In” was premiered by Zane Lowe this week on his Beats 1 program and yesterday Stereogum gave us a first look at the video. They write “The song is rich in vibrant synthesizers and gentle vocals laced with percussion as lively as a marching band, creating a track as quixotic as a lucid dream.”
After several years of friendship, mutual appreciation for multiple genres and solo-touring, Bracht and Nikolaus formed Lea Porcelain in 2015 and have already been touted as ones to watch across numerous blogs and through Lauren Laverne and Tom Ravenscroft on BBC 6Music. Their sound recalls the dystopic darkness of early Manchester sound but with a uniquely entrancing use of electronic synths and drums; the resulting three track EP is a menacing collection of sweeping instrumentals and emotional swells.
Bracht’s love of music started at the tender age of six, when he started to play the drums. He began producing at just sixteen, and developed a live techo set at eighteen. After touring internationally, sharing the stage with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Sven Väth, he was signed to Väth’s label where he released an international club hit. Nikolaus’ musical career was born out of the independent scene, where he signed with New York label Wolf + Lamb. Collectively the duo’s influences are widely diverse but their combined passion for indie and electronic music is unmistakable.
Out Is In EP will be released via Kobalt on May 27th.
