Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Remixes D.D Dumbo

Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Remixes "Walrus" by D.D Dumbo,

Ahead of the release of his album Utopia Defeated nears, D.D Dumbo has shared a new version of “Walrus”, reworked by electronic composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.

A unique interpretation of D.D Dumbo’s latest single, Smith said, “I wanted to give the listener the feeling of plugging and unplugging their ears, or when you cup your ears with two cups and pull them on and off.” The remix is accompanied by a mesmerizing visual, created by D.D Dumbo collaborator and director, Jim Elson.

Utopia Defeated sprung from the mind of Castlemaine’s Oliver Hugh Perry and was written and performed almost entirely by him. Recorded at 4AD’s London Studios, and recorded, engineered and produced by Perry and 4AD’s resident engineer Fabian Prynn.

D.D. Dumbo released his self-recorded debut EP, Tropical Oceans. Led by the spooky strut of the title-track, the lo-fi four song-set of blues-laced, deconstructed pop. Performing solo with a 12-string electric guitar, two drums and a bunch of effect pedals. In the following 12 months he was invited to support the likes of Warpaint, Tune-Yards, St Vincent, Jungle Soon after D.D Dumbo signed to 4AD, and in 2014 he toured the UK for the first time, supporting both Daughter and Tame Impala.
