Jake Bugg Releases Short Film
Jake Bugg has released a short film for his emotive acoustic track Saviours Of The City, filmed recently during lockdown. Co-directed by Jake himself, the video is a hyper reality punctuated by psychedelic dreams, 60’s counter-culture and post rave comedowns, and explores themes of isolation, burden and the freedom to express; subjects made evermore poignant by the current global crisis. Filmed in collaboration with High Art, and produced by Playhouse Pictures, it was self-filmed and directed over video calls and messaging apps.
Saviours Of The City was co-written with friend ONR last year, but interestingly relates to the situation in the world right now in its earnest reflective lyrics and stripped back sound. Jake says; “I wrote this last year with my mate Robert (ONR). It’s a song I didn’t envisage releasing this early, but it seems to resonate with what’s going on right now and makes sense of it for me in some ways.”
Jake and his band played 9 sold out UK dates earlier this year before lockdown erupted, which followed his November tour performing at venues including The Roundhouse in London and a hometown show at Nottingham Rock City
