Hopper Race debuts video for "Racing Bullets"
Hopper Race

NY-based musician, visual artist Hopper Race has received multiple praise for his debut, self-produced EP Pop Priest.

Mixing live-action and animation, this music video was directed, filmed, drawn, and edited by Ekurtis and Hopper Race with VFX by Alex Lee. It was filmed almost entirely in their NYC studio apartment.

After touring the world with bands, rock operas, and circuses, electro indie pop artist Hopper Race (Aaron Berk) decided to cut the safety net and make his own music. In 2016, Berk began writing under the moniker Hopper Race. Not satisfied with writing alone, he produced, recorded, mixed, photographed, and filmed nearly every element around his debut EP, Pop Priest. NYC-based, he lives with his co-conspirator (and often co-producer and co-mixer) Ekurtis (Eric Larson) and their outspoken rat terrier, Zeus. They had a band, Eric and Aaron, which toured the US and played NYC venues such as Arlene’s Grocery, The Delancey, and Piano’s, but since they wanted to remain living together they became solo artists.

Berk had another band in New York – a high-drama, glam rock band, Smith Island Asylum, which featured a 15-person entourage (musicians, dancers, and show girls), multiple costume changes, and video throughout. They played Webster Hall and Highline Ballroom before getting over the platforms and lashes. Between bands were a few stints with circuses in the Middle East, where Aaron found himself singing suspended from a crane 200 feet up or in the center of a Christmas village in Dubai.
