“Heavyweight” by Iguans Death Cult

Iguana Death Cult recently dropped their new LP Guns Out via Greenway Records and The Reverberation Appreciation Society, along with album’s arrival, they have shared a visualizer for “Heavyweight.”

“The weight of the world is weighing down on us like never before. ‘Heavyweight’, as most of the songs on this album, laments about a growing sense of discomfort in one’s own skin as one sees the world as we know it is coming to a halt and algorithmically designed divisiveness makes way for neofacism,” the band explains.

“World leaders are mainly concerned with who’s the heavyweight champion and are willing to let you and your children die over their willy measuring contest. This might feel far from reality for people in the west like ourselves, but it won’t be for long. Is it eating away at you? Is it making you sick? Is it making you doubt every single thing you took for a fact and makes you wanna give up altogether? Well, you’re not alone. But good news! You don’t have to.”

“Be a heavyweight champion of your own community, your neighbourhood, your own life. Help each other out, be a good friend. There’s so much value in that.”

Guns Out marks a return to punchy garage rock and features honest self-reflection, addressing escapism, mental strain, and creative renewal. The result channels their early punk and garage roots, powered by Tobias Opschoor’s razor-sharp riffs, Uri Rennert’s (Häxxan and Brian Jonestown Massacre) relentless drumming, Jimmy de Kok’s groovy rhythms and Jeroen Reek’s raw, emotive vocals.
