Heart to Gold’s forthcoming new LP, Free Help was, out November 15. Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Turnstile) and released on his label, Memory Music. Ahead of the album’s arrival, the band have shared the album track “Mostly.”

“Mostly”” is a raw reflection on the experience of drifting away from people as time passes, grounded in vocalist/guitarist Grant Whiteoak’s candid lyrics about youth, identity, and missteps along the way. “At the time, I was stuck trying to subconsciously figure myself out. I didn’t know I was living in ways that didn’t align with who I truly wanted to be,” he says. “Mostly is about finally realizing who I was while losing connections with people I tried to impress.”

The band who are inspired by the sounds of The Weakerthans, American Football, Weezer, Husker Du, and more, were waiting beside their broken-down van in Darien, Georgia when the title of their third LP was conceived. Fairly broke and terribly bored, one of them suggested that they hold up a cardboard sign that said “Free Help,” a last-ditch attempt to find something to keep them busy. The offer stuck with Grant—it felt like what music and art can be for people.
