Across two previously released projects, London’s George Riley has proven herself to be one of the city’s most captivating sonic explorers. Her debut, interest rates, a tape announced her arrival as an adventurous voice abstracting the sounds of modern R&B with a dynamic delivery and diaristic lyricism. Her follow up, Running In Waves, explored isolation and love over immersive, layered synth tapestries and unconventional soundscapes. With her forthcoming EP (and her first on iconic label Ninja Tune), Un/limited Love, George Riley crosses over with a fully formed confidence, one that’s been explored on the sun-kissed “Elixir”, as well as the explosive energy of Hudson Mohawke collaboration “S e x”. Today, George Riley unveils one more taste of Un/limited Love before its November 10th release in the form of a new track, “Satisfy You.”

A deceptively raw cut of alternative R&B produced by John FM, “Satisfy You” places Riley’s irresistible vocal on centre stage. Set to a relentless percussive line that lands midway between driving club rhythms and Timbaland at his most choppy, “Satisfy You” builds its melodic like around George’s passionate musings; with cascading synths rising and falling around a bounce-heavy bassline that adds a new layer to the track’s stunning forward motion. A track build around the notion of learning to love one’s self in order to love someone else, “Satisfy You” is a warm example of modern R&B with emotional maturity at its core – harking back to some of Riley previous work, it’s lyricism feels like self-examination in real time, with Riley melodically uncovering epiphanies with the listener in tow.
