“Effort” by Blue J
Vancouver’s Blue J may or may not be a reference to a baseball team, a melancholic person who’s name begins with the letter J, the loquacious bird, a comic book character from The Justice League or simply a blue coloured J. Recently Blue J, released the new single “Effort”, the track is now available to stream on Spotify. Blue J, play their next show on April 28th, at Vinyl Envy in Victoria, BC.
“Effort” lyrics:
Your stunning view is disappearing / behind four million dollar walls /
not that you had the chance to see it / with your second job /
and you realize that no one cares how hard you have to work /
or that you’re secretly a genius on your second book /
it’s been a long time coming / you are only pages away /
from being called the new Norman Mailer / from having your own parade /
There’s not a lot of effort to / put in to staying here / move across the world / see if I care
A crane is hanging in the night sky / wrapped up in holiday lights /
construction ringing rhythmless in / a somewhat silent night /
and you realize that no one here is waiting for your call /
and if you jumped into the river / no one cares at all /
it’s been a long time coming / you are only pages away /
from showing up at your old high school / carrying your N.B.A /
There’s not a lot of effort to / put in to staying here / move across the world / see if I care
