Deb Never Drops “Momentary Sweetheart”
Deb Never has shared a new music video, “Momentary Sweetheart,” the first single from a forthcoming EP. “Don’t you hate when I go?” Deb bravely asks, knowing any answer will sting in some way. The video depicts Deb drifting across the screen as motion trail effects keep her presence from fully dissipating. Here, even the most temporary of lovers leave an impact, the same way the song describes a carpet “stained from all the stories from before.”
Born to Korean parents in the Pacific Northwest, she first earned her stripes in local grunge bands, before forging her own path – and sound – when relocating to Los Angeles. Early releases like the House on Wheels EP soon saw Deb land formidable co-signs from her peers, with Never opening for the likes of Tommy Genesis and Dominic Fike. Her success grew, and so did her list of collaborators (Kenny Beats, Brockhampton) as well as those who took on as a supporting act (Omar Apollo, slowthai). When lockdowns struck in 2020, Never further honed her songwriting craft, which led to two projects: Intermission, made in support of frontline healthcare workers, and Where Have All The Flowers Gone? (2021), featuring tracks made with Michael Percy (Snoh Alegra, Joy Crookes) and Jam City (Olivia Rodrigo, Kelela, Troye Sivan).
