To celebrate their signing with the illustrious Philadelphia indy label Born Losers records (JW Francis, Snoozer), Goon is releasing new single “Death Spells.” The song was recorded over a two-week period in October, also with Claire Morison. Coming off a difficult time in his life, Becker felt it important for the whole band to present for the recording, even inviting his old friend (and the band’s original guitarist) Drew Eccleston to sing harmonies. After spending over a year on the forthcoming full-length, Becker wanted to record quickly, running on a pure burst of inspiration. “I wanted everyone to play on this one,” says Becker. “It feels really special, and comforting. The way your friends gather around you in tough times, when you’re hurting, to make music together.”

Goon began as Kenny Becker’s solo project in 2015. At a friend’s encouragement, Becker compiled the best of his tracks and released them as an EP, 2016’s Dusk of Punk. He recruited bandmates from his college buddies and released a second EP, all the while working on the band’s first full-length, 2019’s Heaven is Humming on Partisan Records, followed by the self-released Paint By Numbers 1, a collection of his mid pandemic home recordings. The evolution of Goon has come to full fruition on their last album, Hour of Green Evening. The record conjures the nighttime suburban world of Becker’s youth, a mix of concrete and cookie-cutter homes with the lush beauty of California landscapes. Goon is signed to Sound Talent Group for booking and the band is excited to announce that they recently signed to the Philly-based record label, Born Losers and are currently in the studio working on their new LP to be released in 2025.

To date, the band have played Desert Daze, Freakout Fest, Real Love Fest, and more, and have played shows with Peel Dream Magazine, Slow Pulp, Spoon, Reggie Watts, Built To Spill and more.
