New York four-piece cumgirl8 release their debut 4AD EP phantasea pharm. Recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely from analog tape, phantasea pharm was born out of an obsession with Ella Fitzgerald’s “Old McDonald” ahead of a show in Charlottesville, Virginia. The band decided to pay homage. Veronika Vilim (guitar) dressed up in a cow leotard with pig accessories, Chase Lombardo (drums) in a g-string and apron that read “The Grillfather,” Avishag Rodrigues (guitar) became a lawn mower, and Lida Fox (bass) took on the role of a sexy rooster. “We went on stage that night and told everyone we were a ‘Fantasy Farm.’”

The result is six tracks of brilliant and boundaryless music that stretch across the likes of Cocteau Twins, ESG, Suicide, The Slits, B-52s, Madonna and more.

phantasea pharm follows last year’s standalone single “dumb bitch” and EP’s cumgirl8 (2020) and RIPcumgirl8 (2021), and arrives in the midst of a buzzing year for the band. They recently headlined a sold-out show at New York’s newest venue Bakar Falls (formerly The Pyramid Club) and supported Le Tigre on a sold-out Canadian run after running around the EU/UK earlier this summer where they played Primavera, The Great Escape, London Calling, and more. The band make their return overseas today joining the line-up for Greenman, Core Festival, and Pitchfork Paris just to name a few.
