Childe has shared his new single “Child” and its accompanying video, taken from his forthcoming self-titled EP that will see release on April 16th, 2021 via Prolifica Inc. The track Follows his previous single. “Two Thirds” About his new single Child says: “This one is bittersweet. It’s about giving in to your primal instinct and being drawn to the dark side of a relationship. Sometimes that bit of friction is what we actually need.” Childe cites Imogen Heap, Chance The Rapper, Frank Ocean, Bon Iver and Bright Eyes as major influences alongside his biggest Thom Yorke and Tracy Chapman.

“I’d written all these songs in quite quick succession and it felt like a self identified therapy session…it was a process of fathering my own thoughts.” He says about the EP. “When you experience quite a lot of trauma as a kid, you end up becoming drawn to the extremity of the emotion because that’s what you felt before. Those are the grooves that have been cut in me that show me how to feel. It’s only in growing up in the past couple of years that I’ve learnt not to be ashamed of that, to accept it. My version of trauma is that I’m drawn to feeling hard.”

Growing up in a rural town in England to a music obsessive family, he picked up piano and guitar as a teenager, later forming a grunge band that kicked started his journey with songwriting. Eventually studying theater at the performing arts BRIT school provided an inspiring environment for Childe, that led to on to support slots with King Princess on tour.

“The thing that connects my songs is that they all started as a way of me figuring something out,” he says. “It’s about being okay with the journey of life, learning to bed myself in and trust the process and to know that it’s okay for expectations to change, to mess up and to reconcile. I come to a song with a problem, and the song helps me fix the problem.”
