The Bug Shares “Function / Void” Video
The Bug, in collaboration with maverick South London directors Factory Fifteen and production company and digital studio Nexus, (produced in conjunction with the visionary online arts channel The Creators Project) and Ninja Tune are proud to present ‘Function / Void’ – an astounding video short combining two tracks that explore the duality and contradiction intrinsic to The Bug’s brand new album Angels & Devils via the ear-battering acid-grime assault of ‘Function’ (featuring Roll Deep’s Manga) and the heavily blunted dub of ‘Void’ (featuring Liz Harris of Grouper). “We wanted to reflect The Bug’s thematic ideas and visually explore the narrative of a person stuck in a totalitarian system, using themes from our current society of consumerist lifestyles.” Factory Fifteen explain. “The whole process was critically engaging and allowed us to truly build a world . . . and then tear it down.”
This creation highlights the impending arrival of The Bug’s Exit EP, which features both aforementioned Angels & Devils cuts alongside “Black Wasp” again featuring vocals from Liz Harris of Grouper and “Blaow” featuring the original ragamuffin soldier — Daddy Freddy. The Bug is also heading out on a North American tour which kicks off next month. The tour finds The Bug playing New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more. Along the way, The Bug will perform alongside Wolf Eyes and labelmate Actress, as well as longtime Roll Deep collaborators Manga and Flowdan.
