America Jayne has shared “Parasite,” a track off her newly released album Shove it, now available via DSPs. The track features previous singles “Eat You Up” and “Life Of The Party.”

Speaking on the new track, she wrote: “”Parasite” is a song about letting go of an old relationship as that person moves on with someone else. It’s a song about sucking it up, turning the other cheek, and genuinely wishing them the best. The song is an anthemic tune at the end of the EP and just when you think it’s over and that the narrator has fully moved on, the track comes back in with chugging bass & drums, screeching guitar, and layered group vocals echoing ‘Do you have to shove it?.; The outro sheds the “be the bigger person” outlook of the verses and allows the narrator to truly feel the pain, sorrow, and jealousy of watching the person you love move on before you.”

While AJ’s first EP focused on themes of growing up, nostalgia, and heartbreak in early adulthood, Shove It dissects AJ’s own downfalls and struggles with accountability and destructive behavior. The record shines a magnifying glass on AJ’s actions as opposed to shying away from the harsher sides of themselves. This record doesn’t make any excuses. It exposes the raw, true, and sometimes selfish parts of a person that we often try to shove down. Shove It feels like a more mature version of the narrative Homecoming began; sure, trauma informs how AJ ended up where she is, but Shove It pushes her to take accountability for her actions and how they have affected herself and others.

Shove It features co-writes with Torna (whole EP), Zac Coe (“Call it What It Is”), Nick Cianci (“Life of the Patry”), Benardo Ochoa (“Eat You Up”), and Nisa Lumaj (“Parasite”). Her studio band consists of Aidan Shepard (drums), Ian Grey (guitar), and Keegan Monty (bass). Backing vocals by Mina Walker and Kelley Dugan (both of Daisy The Great). Group vocals include Bernardo Ochoa (Panther Hollow), Claire Cuny (Reliant Tom), Stephanie Schecter (Ellajay), and Aidan Shepard. Shove It was recorded at Studio G and Tightrope Recording, with assistance at Studio G by Ross Columbo, produced and mixed by Torna, mastering by Mike Tierney, and album art by Alex Brown.
