Ahead of the release of her debut full-length album COLLXTION II, out June 9 via Twin Music, Allie X has premiered her newest single “Paper Love”. COLLXTION II explores identity, fragility and imperfection with a stripped back, minimal dark pop sound with a DIY edge encompassing delicate instrumentation, glossy pop and even slinky dancehall-inspired beats. The album continues to delve into the world of X and follows Allie X as her enigmatic persona is unveiled further through her lyrics, visuals and live performance. Allie X relocated to her hometown of Toronto, Canada to write much of the album, taking a break from her new home of LA to return to a simpler, though no less powerfully nuanced, style.

When discussing the inspiration behind the album, Allie X says, “This album is about the loss and reclamation of one’s identity. It’s about how much of who I am is ‘pure’ for lack of a better word, and how much is informed by experience. I don’t know how to put myself back together, but I do know that with this idea of X, the unknown, the possibility of anything, you can almost fill in these empty spaces in yourself. It’s about taking back what you lost along the way.”
