Alice Glass Announces PREY//IV LP
Alice Glass, has revealed her debut studio album PREY//IV, will drop on January 28th, 2022. Ahead of the release, the artist has shared the lead single “Baby Teeth,” along with an animated video. The Lucas David and Astra Zero-created video sees a 3D-rendered Alice as a video game character. PREY//IV serves as the second solo body of work from Glass following 2017’s self-titled EP.
“I like to make songs that you can dance to when you’re sad. “Baby Teeth” is probably the darkest and most hopeless track on my record, but it sounds misleadingly hopeful.
“Baby Teeth” is about embracing despair. It understands that violence against the vulnerable is inevitable, and it probably always will be. There will always be people that prey on others for their own gain, sometimes ruining lives for the most fleeting selfish pleasures. This is human nature, and it hurts too much to think about. And sometimes, the only power it feels like we have left is to say, “Hey, you can’t hurt me, because I’m hurting myself first. I’ve beat you to it.”
It’s bleak, but this is a reality many of us struggle with. It isn’t fair. It never will be.”
Alice Glass one-half of Crystal Castles. Glass has been featured in fashion campaigns by Alexander McQueen among other notable designers. In October of 2014, Glass left Crystal Castles and eventually went public about the abusive treatment that she survived while in the band; following her debut solo single “Stillbirth” in 2015, Glass released a self-titled EP in 2017 and has kept a steady flow of single and remix releases since. She has toured extensively.
