Cheekface, the ever-wry Los Angeles trio known for their talk-sing delivery and deadpan wit, are back with “Growth Sux”, their third single since dropping “It’s Sorted” last January. True to form, the track blends infectious grooves with sharp, self-aware lyrics, reinforcing their reputation as indie rock’s reigning champions of existential humor.

“What would you do if the cabin pressure changed? Would you put on the mask or would you just let it ride?” they ask, distilling the kind of casual dread that defines life under late-stage capitalism. It’s a peppy, danceable anthem for those who’ve accepted that personal growth is mostly just growing pains. Musically, Growth Sux sticks to the band’s signature formula—tight rhythms, bouncy melodies, and a delivery that lands somewhere between a therapy session and a punchline.

With its instantly memorable chorus and the signature pop-art visuals from bassist Amanda Tannen, Growth Sux feels like another step toward whatever full-length might be brewing. If it’s anything like It’s Sorted, we’re in for another sharply observational, deeply relatable ride.
