Death Cab for Cutie’s major-label debut Plans turns 20 this year, to celebrate, the band has announced shows in three cities. Playing the 2005 album in its entirety, the band will bring Plans to Seattle, Chicago, and NYC this Summer. The shows follow the bands previous tour behind Asphalt Meadows. Tickets will be available for presale on Thursday, Feb 13th at 10AM local time and will go on sale on Friday, Feb 14th at 10AM local time for Seattle and NYC and 9am CT for Chicago.

Plans includes singles “Soul Meets Body,” “Crooked Teeth,” and “I Will Follow You into the Dark.” Ben Gibbard says, “Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever — it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first GRAMMY nominations. We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”

December 2020 saw Death Cab for Cutie release The Georgia EP, initially offered as a 24-hour Bandcamp exclusive in advance of the crucial Georgia runoff elections that ultimately turned the state blue and secured Democratic control of the US Senate. The five-song project – which features covers of iconic artists from the great state of Georgia – raised over $100K for Fair Fight Action, the national voting rights organization founded by Stacy Abrams.

In February 2022, Gibbard conceived, curated, and executive produced Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono, an acclaimed tribute to the groundbreaking singer, songwriter, multimedia artist, and activist released in celebration of her 89th birthday. The collection – which included Death Cab for Cutie’s own cover of “Waiting For The Sunrise” – also featured contributions from a stunning range of diverse artists, including David Byrne, Japanese Breakfast, The Flaming Lips, and Sharon Van Etten
