“11:11” By Buscabulla
Buscabulla has released the new single “11:11,” the track is out today via Domino Records. The song is the group’s first original new song since their debut album Regresa in 2020.
Taking rhythmic inspiration from merengue and other Caribbean genres, Buscabulla’s co-founders Raquel Berrios and Luis Del Valle intentionally deliver the dynamic energy of the live shows through “11:11.” The song was inspired by the music that Berrios and Del Valle would hear their moms blasting from the stereo on cleaning days in their childhood. The past few years for Buscabulla have changed the Puerto Rican band forever. Wild career highs (hello, Bad Bunny collab), an unexpected creative standstill, a deeply felt familial loss — it all sparked serious reflection in Berrios and Del Valle. There was something cosmic in how everything unfolded.
“11:11” arrives imbued with a certain mysticism. Named for Berrios’ ubiquitous angel number, the track marks the start of a fresh. very pointed chapter for the band. “You have a purpose, and you have to fulfill it,” Berrios says. “That’s what this new era is about.”
Rewind to the band’s debut album, ‘Regresa.’ A release long anticipated by fans who’d followed the band throughout the course of EPs and singles for nearly a decade. But it dropped as the pandemic went full tilt, just after two damaging earthquakes hit Puerto Rico. Their elation turned to fear: ‘Regresa’ would be lost to its tragic macro environment.
Thankfully, Berrios and Del Valle were wrong. While a planned tour was postponed, fans still connected deeply with ‘Regresa.’ Unexpectedly homebound listeners found a special kind of solace in the album, which centers on the pair’s return home to their native Puerto Rico after living in New York for more than a decade.
