Waxahatchee Debuts “Tigers Blood”
Waxahatchee has returned with a new video for “Tigers Blood”, a behind the scenes look at the making of her album Tigers Blood at Sonic Ranch in Texas with producer Brad Cook (Liz Phair). The video, which opens with a voice memo from Crutchfield, captures a special moment in time when this masterful album was being recorded.
“Tigers Blood”
you come alive in the heat, you ain’t crossing state lines
stood up like a crepe myrtle, can’t be killed or denied
throw a brick through the window, leave your mess at my door
lord knows sooner or later it’d wash up to shore
lord knows sooner or later it’d wash up to shore
you’re laughing & smiling, drove my jeep through the mud
your teeth and your tongue bright red from tigers blood
we were young for so long, seersuckers of time
drank someone else’s juice & left only the rind
drank someone else’s juice & left only the rind
i held it like a penny i found
it might bring me something it might weigh me down
you got every excuse but it’s an eerie sound
when that siren blows, rings out all over town
named after a city y’aint never seen
spellbinding copperheads banging a tambourine
it’s the kiss of death, but it’s the only way out
galloped up to the mirror, looked her right in the mouth
galloped up to the mirror, looked her right in the mouth
i’d’a skated the surface, i’d’a left you alone
by now truer words spoken like blood from a stone
& it fills me with dread but i’ve learnt to ignore
the smell of dust that creeps up through the cracks in the floor
the smell of dust it creeps up through the cracks in the floor
i held it like a penny i found
it might bring me something, it might weigh me down
you got every excuse but it’s an eerie sound
when that siren blows, rings out all over town
when that siren blows, rings out all over town
