Wax Idols bandleader Hether Fortune is a survivor. “I’m Not Going,” taken from American Tragic, out October 16th on Collect Records, is a statement of defiant endurance, of strength in the face of adversity. Over shimmering guitar and a slow but steady pulse Fortune sings, “I’ve got diamonds in my bones, I can shine alone.” The song was premiered by Consequence of Sound this morning. Of the song, Fortune says, “In light of recent events, it’s hard for me not to think of this song in hindsight as being somewhat prophetic. I feel like it speaks for itself.
