After the release of his debut album, Infinite Spring, earlier this year via Lame-O Records. superviolet–aka Steven Ciolek, kicks off his debut solo tour, Next week in Washington, DC. To celebrate, the former sidekick member, has shared the single “Waver,” a track from the Infinite Spring sessions.

Ciolek discussed the new single, saying:

“”Waver” is an ode to indecisiveness, tracked during the sessions for Infinite Spring. It stems from the feeling that, particularly for people like me who can spend all day weighing a decision, you constantly are at odds with the passing of time. That’s to say, the world isn’t going to stop for you to find that perfect piece of fruit at the store, or the perfect EQ boost on a mix, or the ideal word to say how you are feeling. Inevitably, the clock will win. It will win in a deciding fashion. To spell out the reference in the song: Muhammad Ali is the clock and you are Chuck Wepner. Really all you can do is celebrate the fact that you stayed in the ring.”

Recorded with Zac Little of Saintseneca (who worked closely with Ciolek on the creation of the songs) and The Sidekick’s Matty Sanders (who played drums on the album), Infinite Spring feels like an amalgam of Ciolek’s many musical interests, all woven together into something unique; throughout, sparse folk intersects with soulful indie, and the intricate arrangements and sweeping hooks of ‘60s and ‘70s pop rock overlap with the charming looseness of midwest punk.
